From 23rd to 26th November 2015, LUMEN has organized in Lomé a workshop on Braille printer maintenance.

This workshop was conducted by a specialist from the Institute Montéclair (France). He is very experienced; he has done this training a number of times already for FORCE FOUNDATION. He was trained in Sweden by INDEX, the producer of the Braille printers.
The original project was expanded a bit on request of several sponsors.

It has now gathered participants not only from Togo and Benin but also from Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali. They were in total 20 people. During this workshop, all the different blind centers have sent their Braille printers to be repaired. Some parts were replaced and all the printers have started printing books as if they were new. The participants were therefore empowered to be able to repair small-scale technical defaults, maintain the printer and indicate witch parts should be replaced if major problems occur.

We would like to thank all of you who enable us to have this trainee for these staff members. It has helped them to get more knowledge in repairing the brailed printer. It has also enabled the participants to get their printers repaired and get new parts for their machines. At the end of the workshop all the participants were very happy and grateful to the sponsors and to the initiators of the project.
